Introduction Post - Who Am I?

Greetings my name is Kendrick Ellis and I am a Senior from Miramar, FL. I am studying Information Technology here at Florida State University’s College of Communication and Information. During my time at Florida State University, I have developed and boasted my institutional pride while serving as a 2019 Orientation Leader and as a 2020 CARE Ambassador for my University’s “Summer Bridge” transition program for first-generation students. Through both of these positions, I have been able to make the transition to college easier for hundreds of first-generation and minority students coming to FSU. In addition to these roles, I also have served as a resident assistant with FSU’s University Housing. While at FSU, I have enjoyed learning more and more about Information Technology. In my free time, I enjoy exploring emerging technologies and their application, photography, and spending time with family, and traveling!

During the vast majority of my time here at FSU through my various extracurricular involvements and organizations, we have utilized technology in various mediums to conduct activities and share information with the communities we serve. I would say that my most relevant experience with utilizing technology for educational settings stems from my time as a pre-collegiate mentor for FSU's college outreach programs. Through this experience, I alongside a team of other mentors utilized powerpoints and various other learning engagement programs to ensure that the content we were providing to our mentees was able to be understood in an effective manner in turn boosting student engagement and content comprehension.

Some of my personal learning networks consist of various social media websites ranging from Facebook and Instagram to (even more recently) TikTok. Through these various social media platforms, I was able to build a network that I can turn to find information and resources that allow me to learn more about my unique interests. Additionally, some of my offline resources are my peers and individuals who I consider to be a mentor to me who are often willing to share insight and knowledge that they feel will be relevant to my personal growth and continuous learning.

  2. Hi Kendrick! I like the style of your blog so far. I noticed you said that you do photography and was wondering what it is you like to capture. Mine is wildlife, but preferably any type of bird. I actually have an account on instagram dedicated to it!
