Journal Entry # 6
Diigo
Prior to this class, I have never used Diigo, nor had I heard about this platform prior. During my initial interaction, my first thoughts were that the overall layout and design of the website seem very old and dated and in need of an update. Navigating the website was a little of a challenge initially however with the progression of time I was able to find out how to do simple tasks such as joining the class webpage and adding a few bookmarks. I feel like if I were to conduct advanced studies this website would be a great platform to have as I am seeking to reference my research material.
Blogging
Being the host of a blog has allowed me to work towards a larger goal of sharing my thoughts publically. Using this blog for this class has allowed me to share my experience as we learn more and more each week on a wide variety of differing topics. What I truly like about blogging is that the thoughts are independent and allow me to share my own personal thoughts on a topic. What I learned so far is that through blogging there is no need to write to fulfill word counts it is important to share ideas and thoughts that are independent and most salient to my personal thoughts. I am truly grateful for the blogging experience so far and look forward to being a place for others to read my thoughts and also I look forward to reading the views of others.
Web 2.0 Tools
A Web 2.0 tool that I would use in my classroom as an educator would be LiveBinders. I feel that this is an amazing tool that would allow my students the ability to publically showcase the various assignments and activities they've been working on throughout the course of the academic year. While using this site it will serve as a single centralized repository that will allow students to obtain a static web address and continuously upload their course material as they complete various projects in the course. With proper use of this website, students will be able to never lose track of completed files or projects and save time as it relates to showcasing their work for the final capstone project.
